A Vacation Within a Vacation
I have to travel for business some this month and even though I am spending a month in Sedona Ar. I am going to be sent by my company to investigate a partner for our business in of all place Belize. When this potential partner and I began to talk about being partners he told me that when it came time to meet we would meet where he lives at least half the year Belize. I had want to go to Belize for some time. I wanted to see if I could live there or if I would just get too lonesome.
Well, I am tired and not feeling awfully well this week, so a vacation within a vacation is just what I need. I will stay with my new potential partner for about three days of business and then for another four days of vacation. I am really hyped about this trip. Belize is one of the easiest islands to vacation or retire in as it is English speaking. I am certain that the only way I could find out if I could retire there is to try it out in small time frames and learn about the people who live there.
What I found out about Belize is:
1. if you want to live the same standards as in the US it will be about the same prices in Belize. But money seems to go further in Belize.
2. You can apply for permanent residency after you have lived there for one year. The first year you
are living there
3. You have to prove you have so much money per month and so much savings.
4. The crime rate is high is certain places in Belize all the websites say you learn
where these area are and avoid them at all costs.
5. Though housing is quite affordable even beach front housing is available but
the utilities are much higher than in the US.
6. One gets huge tax breaks for someone like me this does not matter much.
Learning about this country and these islands is a large task for right now. I am
just going to be
very grateful that I got to visit and get a small taste of this wonderful place.
